CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER 
The decision to close schools shall be made prior to 6:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Media announcements shall be made by 7:00 a.m. (full day closure) and 2:30 p.m. (afternoon closure).
Decisions respecting the closure of schools will be made by the Superintendent /CEO after consultation with the RRVSD Transportation department, RCMP, Highways department, other school divisions, and consideration of the following criteria:
1. Visibility
2. Extremely Cold Temperatures (-35 C or lower) - We consult the Environment Canada website and use the temperature as reported at the Winnipeg International Airport to help us make our decision.

The paramount consideration is the safety of students.
Media announcements shall be through the medium of the following radio and television stations:
CFAM - CJOB - CBC-990 - CKSB - CHSM - CTV
If we close due to cold weather or poor road conditions, parents and guardians are asked to keep students at home or make alternative arrangements.
Once students have arrived at the schools, schools will remain open until regular dismissal time. In the event that afternoon bus routes are cancelled by the Superintendent & CEO, schools will implement contingency plans to accommodate bus students (billet system).
