Community Report
This community report, written by the Superintendent's Department, will provide highlights of each Board meeting. It should appear on our divisional web site a few days after each Board meeting. We hope it will provide you with some highlights of some of the work done at the Board meeting.
Items of Interest from the May and June, 2009 Regular Board Meetings
1. The Board received a report on the World Health Organization’s announcement of a Pandemic Outbreak of H1N1 influenza. The Superintendent’s Department provided information and a report on how the schools and the school division will handle any potential issues concerning the H1N1 Pandemic. The Board also received, as information, the divisional Pandemic Plan. Information for schools and the public will be provided on the division web page.
2. The Superintendent’s Department provided a report on new Student Engagement projects planned for next year. A project called Rachel’s Challenge will be held for middle and senior year students next year. More information will be forthcoming next fall.
3. The Senior Administration provided several year-end Monitoring Reports to the Board on priorities that were set in the Board Strategic Plan and the Educational Strategic Plan. Reports included qualitative and quantitative data and reports on Priority #1-Providing quality education to our students; Priority #2-Continuing to retain dedicated and highly competent employees; and, Priority #3-Providing student friendly, safe environments.
4. The Board received a report from the Superintendent & CEO on the 5-Year Capital Plan. This plan shows potential building and maintenance projects for the next 5 years. The Board accepted the plan as information.
The next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., at the Administration Office Boardroom in Morris, MB.
