2026-2027 Welcome News Story
Dear RRVSD Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! As the quiet of summer gives way to the energy of a new academic term, I hope the past few months offered you a well-deserved opportunity to step back, relax, and reconnect with those who matter most. Whether your break was filled with travel, family activities, or simple moments of rest, we hope you are returning to us feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready for the journey ahead.
Starting a new school year is always an extraordinarily exciting time across the Red River Valley School Division. It represents a fresh start—a blank canvas filled with new learning, expanded opportunities, and the essential social connections that make our school communities so vibrant.
At the heart of our mission is a steadfast commitment to student academic success. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, engaging instruction that challenges students to think critically, explore new interests, and achieve their fullest potential. Whether your child is mastering foundational skills in early literacy, exploring complex sciences in high school, or pursuing vocational pathways, our goal is to foster a lifelong love of learning and equip every student with the tools they need to thrive.
We also know that true academic achievement cannot occur in isolation; academic growth and well-being go hand in hand. This year, we remain deeply committed to supporting a balanced environment that prioritizes both student and staff wellness. We believe that a school culture built on empathy, mental health support, and positive relationships creates the safety net students need to take risks in their learning and succeed. Just as we care for our students' minds, we care for their hearts, ensuring our schools are spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.
Our incredible team of educators, administrators, and support staff plays a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. Throughout the late summer, our dedicated team has been hard at work—preparing classrooms, refining curricula, and creating environments where every child can flourish. We view education as a collaborative journey, and our staff are looking forward to playing a vital, guiding role in a year where staff and students will learn, grow, and succeed alongside one another.
As you pack your backpacks, organize your schedules, and prepare for the first day, please know how much we are looking forward to welcoming you back. Together with our families and community partners, we are ready to make the 2026-27 school year our best one yet.
Warmly,
Daniel Preteau
