Gord Mosset
Ward 3 Trustee
I grew up in Starbuck, Manitoba, attending Starbuck
School before continuing my education at Sanford Collegiate. After high school, I pursued post-secondary studies in computer science and built a career in the tech industry. My spouse, also a Sanford Collegiate graduate, and I have three children-two currently attending Sanford Collegiate and one at Starbuck School. Our family remains deeply connected to the local education system and broader community, and I am committed to balancing the needs of both.
With over two decades in the tech industry, I bring a strong background in computer science and currently work in human resources within the tech sector. My role combines technical expertise with people management, focusing on project leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and technology-driven solutions to enhance organizational efficiency. Passionate about professional development and mentorship, I actively support local education initiatives and vocational training programs.
Having lived in the Starbuck community for most of my life, I am deeply invested in the well-being of both Starbuck and the broader Red River Valley School Division. Beyond my professional background, I have contributed to local arts and culture, participating in community dinner theatre productions and singing in choirs. As a musician, I have collaborated with fellow community members at various local events, and my children have also been actively involved in the arts and music festivals. These experiences have
strengthened my community ties and reinforced my commitment to fostering a well-rounded education that values both academics and the arts.
I envision our local schools as innovative, inclusive, and well-equipped institutions that prepare students for success in an ever-changing world while being mindful of taxpayers' contributions. With my deep personal connection to the education system, I advocate for integrating modern technology in classrooms, supporting initiatives that bridge education with real-world careers, and fostering collaboration between schools, businesses, and the community. My goal is to create an environment that promotes both academic excellence and personal growth, ensuring students graduate with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to succeed.
I believe in collaboration, trust, and transparency in decision-making. By working closely with fellow board members, administrators, and community members, I strive to ensure our schools serve the best interests of students, families, and educators. Open and clear communication is essential to keeping the community engaged, and I am committed to listening and responding to the needs of all stakeholders. Through mutual respect and continuous improvement, I aim to help shape a school system that empowers every student to learn, grow, and succeed.
