RRVSD Announces Appointment of Darren Skog as Superintendent & CEO
RRVSD ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF DARREN SKOG AS SUPERINTENDENT & CEO
The Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Skog as Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer of Red River Valley School Division (RRVSD), effective January 1, 2027.
Darren brings more than 30 years of experience in public education to the role, including more than two decades of service and leadership within RRVSD. Darren began his career in education in 1995 as a teaching principal with Turtle River School Division. He later joined Frontier School Division, where he spent seven years teaching in Norway House before moving to Morris in 2004. Darren began his career with RRVSD as a classroom teacher in Morris. After one year in the classroom, he moved into school administration, serving as Principal of Morris School for seven years. In 2012, Darren joined the divisional leadership team as Assistant Superintendent, a role in which he has continued to provide leadership and support across the division.
Throughout his career, Darren has demonstrated a strong commitment to students, staff, families, and the communities served by public education. His extensive experience as a teacher, school administrator, and senior divisional leader, provides him with a broad understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing our schools. Darren holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Brandon University and a Master’s degree from the University of North Dakota. The Board believes Darren’s extensive leadership experience, deep knowledge of RRVSD, and strong relationships throughout our schools and communities position him exceptionally well to lead the division into its next chapter. Having lived in Morris with his family since 2004, Darren’s connection to RRVSD extends well beyond his professional career.
Board Chair Heather Poirier shared the Board’s confidence in the appointment:
“When the position of Superintendent and CEO became available, the Board felt strongly that Darren was the first call we wanted to make. In my eight years working with Darren at the Board level, he has consistently exemplified the qualities we value throughout RRVSD: a passion for education, a clear understanding of the evolving and increasing needs within public education, and a genuine belief that every staff member and every student has an important role to play in our division’s success. Darren knows our division, he knows our communities, and he understands both where we have been and where we need to go. The Board has tremendous confidence in his ability to lead RRVSD ahead, and we look forward to seeing the chapter Darren will write in the long and proud story of RRVSD.”
Darren shared his enthusiasm and commitment upon accepting the appointment:
“I am deeply honoured, proud, and excited to accept the appointment as Superintendent and CEO of Red River Valley School Division. Since joining the division in 2004, RRVSD has been both my professional home and the community where my wife, son, and I have built our lives. Over the years, I have had the privilege of growing alongside our students and staff, and I have developed a profound appreciation for the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and communities, and the incredible potential of our students.”
“As I step into this new role, I am deeply committed to continuing our division’s mission of ensuring that every student has the support they need to learn, grow, and succeed. I look forward to leading with collaboration, transparency, and an unwavering focus on student well-being and academic excellence. Together with our Board of Trustees, staff, families, and community partners, I am excited to build upon our strong foundation and guide RRVSD into a successful future.”
The Board of Trustees looks forward to working alongside Darren as Superintendent and CEO and continuing our shared commitment to providing strong, supportive learning environments where every student has the opportunity to achieve their highest potential.
On behalf of the Red River Valley School Division Board of Trustees, we congratulate Darren on his appointment and look forward with confidence and enthusiasm to this next chapter for RRVSD.
